The Albert Lea Audubon Society began in 1948 with 16 charter members.

We look forward to joining with others to continue and expand events and projects, to continue the mission set forth in 1948. You are welcome to join us as an Audubon Member, attend a meeting, participate in an event and volunteer for special projects.

- To stimulate among its members and the community an increased interest in ecology and nature study, particularly ornithology
- To promote sound conservation policies
- To develop programs that would contribute to civic and cultural life
- To do these things through educational, scientific, literary, historical and charitable pursuits
The Albert Lea Audubon sponsors among other things:
- Our Nature Preserve which improves habitat for birds, bees and other pollinators
- A booth at the Freeborn County Fair
- Purple Martin houses at Edgewater Park in Albert Lea
- Occasional speaker events and nature walks - free and open to the public
- Participation in the annual nationwide Christmas Bird Count
